Lumberjack Days

Lumberjack Days is a festival in a small town outside of Blue Hill.  It was a very small but interesting festival that we attended last fall.  There was plenty of doughnuts and freshly made apple cider.  There were also a couple of contest.  One was the log cutting contest and the other was the ax throwing contest.

Log Cutting Contest

This contest made me a bit nervous.  I was sure that someone would lose a finger and I was afraid it would be the person holding down the log.  Anyway, we decided to sit this one out and just observe.

Ax Throwing Contest

Jay and I both participated in this event.  Each person had three tries.  The goal was to see who could get closet to the center.  I was not a very competent ax thrower.  (I was just happy that it didn't end up in the crowd gathered behind me!)  Jay, however was an ace.  He hit the center on the first try!  Imagine that!
